I almost feel obligated to do a little introduction since this is a new location for me. I've had a blog for maybe four or five years in various places, from dieting sites to graphics sites, landing finally at a major journaling location and sticking there for over the past three years. I have often written about many of the crafts I have done throughout the years, but am glad to have a little splinter blog here to store my craft entries.

I grew up in Michigan, near Detroit, and lived there most of the first 20 years of my life (minus a year in Ohio when I was young). I finally chose to go to college in Minnesota and lived there for four years, after which I wound up in Illinois (Chicago area) for two years, back in the Detroit area for another year, Massachusetts (Worcester) for a year, and then Texas. Marriage brought me to Texas, but it wound up not working out for us. I have since remarried and am in a wonderful relationship with a man I adore. We live in Fort Worth with our beautiful daughter (still a toddler, so much fun!) and our crazy peekapoo.

When I was younger, my mother would often go to craft shows and buy items for us to closely analyze and inspect, and then finally make. She made several gifts this way and every one of them was always well received. Because of all the crafting my mother did, I was inclined to try more crafting on my own. I tried to learn to knit and crochet when I was an adolescent, but could never get my tension right. I believe my mother tried to teach me to sew, but I didn't have the patience to sit and listen to her. I pretty much stuck to the shorter "finished in a day" type projects. Even cross stitch had to be small quickies for me to have enough interest in the project to complete it.

Because of my desire for smaller projects, outside of my knitting (yes, I finally mastered tension... for the most part, that is), most of my crafts are fairly short and simple projects that can be completed in an evening or two. I especially love Christmas crafting, but it's not the only crafting I do. Sometimes it just seems that way. I have made several types of Christmas ornaments (probably my favorites), felt banners, tin can decorations, no sew blankets. invitations, and much more.

Of course, my mother just bought a sewing machine for me for my Christmas gift this year, so there could be some slightly more involved posts, but it's unlikely. I still have a 19 month old daughter to chase around the house and out of my crafting supplies.

I wish I could say my supplies were organized in a room dedicated to crafting like Martha Stewart, but I can't. However, I will still share my stash and book recommendations, along with favorite websites, and probably even how-to directions with pictures of past projects I've completed. Content suggestions and constructive criticism are always welcomed, both on the blog and my crafts. I hope to be posting pictures and a little back story of my first (that I can remember) sewing (machine) project.
